Session Details

#46
Title Late Quaternary records of coastal evolution
CommissionCMP
Description

This session invites contributions investigating driving mechanism behind coastal change over a range of spatial (global to local) and temporal (millennia to years) scales. This includes changes in sea level, sediment supply and accommodation space, environmental conditions and human interaction with coastal environments. This session will also examine how these driving mechanisms influence coastal landscape and ecological change. Determining impacts of the driving mechanisms behind coastal change is vital in understanding how coastal systems operate today and the potential impacts of environmental change in the future. Accordingly this session will have a wide interest to the Quaternary, Earth Science, and marine scientists. Its strong applied component will be directly relevant to coastal managers concerned with coastal forecasting and future sea-level change as well as those investigating human adaption to sea level and coastal landscape change.
